2nd Place and We’re Going to State!!!!!

By: Jared Epperson

As most of you know, Friday the archery team left during first block for regionals. Despite nervousness, anxiousness, and Mountain Dew (which we really weren’t suppose to drink) we did well. Our team finished second in the High School division. PCHS came in first. And Somerset was third.

As far as individual scores go for the boys our captain, Preston Brainard, came in third with a score of 285 out of 300. And for the girls our co-captain, Vivian Pleasant came in third with a score of 275 out of 300. Our team’s overall score was a 3144 out of 3600.

Our team hates that we lost to PCHS but we plan to avenge ourselves at state. The state competition is in two weeks in Louisville. As far as our coach, Noel Epperson, has let us know we will just practice like normal this week to rest up a little. However, we know our coach well and we look forward to intense practice every day next week. Last year the team came in tenth place at state but this year we plan to go to nationals. From what we have heard Trigg County, Lawrenceburg, and Harrison County are the real competition but we are ready for them.

Thanks Coach, Mr. McDonald, and all the people on our team and involved with the team you guys make the Southwestern Warriors Archery Team.
